Skiing on the Saualm / Saualpe – where generations learned to ski
The Eberstein/Saualm ski lift offers a platter lift and wide pistes with good snow cover. BergAufRodeln: the highlight on the Saualm
Since the 2020/21 ski season, there has been a very special offer for young and old on the Saualm, at the Eberstein ski lift: BergAufRodeln!
40 rental toboggans, which are equipped with a special towing device suitable for the lift, are available in the Saualm-Eberstein ski area. The lift transports both skiers and tobogganists, guaranteeing fun in the snow for the whole family.
The lift operators have also invested in a floodlight system and offer BergAufRodeln as night tobogganing (with compulsory helmet) until 21:00.
From the age of 10, tobogganists may ride alone, younger tobogganists must be accompanied by an adult and must wear a helmet. Of course, there is no upper age limit.
There are separate routes downhill, the piste for skiers and the toboggan run for all tobogganers.

Adventure for skiers, winter hikers, ski tourers and connoisseurs on the Saualm – Saualpe
If you set off on a winter hike on the Saualpe in the late afternoon, you will experience an incredible atmosphere as soon as the sun goes down and dusk falls.
Several peaks can be climbed during a hike or ski tour on the idyllic Saualm. From the Weißbergerhütte, which can be reached from Wieting, you can hike comfortably up to the Gertrusk. This tour is always an experience for beginners and experts alike. As soon as you reach the summit cross, you can enjoy a fantastic view of the Görtschitztal valley, the Lavanttal valley and far beyond. If you want more, you can continue hiking from the Gertrusk to the Ladinger Spitz.
From the Steinerhütte, which is beautifully situated above Eberstein, you can hike up to the small Sauofen and then on to the large Sauofen. This hike is easy to master both in summer and winter with snowshoes and touring skis. At the end of your tour, a stop at the Steinerhütte or Druckerhütte is ideal.
TIP: This tour is also offered as a guided snowshoe tour on January 15 and 22 and on February 8 and 15, 2025.
