To the north of St. Veit an der Glan lies Lake Kraiger, a small natural gem that invites you to relax and linger. With its peaceful location and surrounding landscape, the lake is the perfect place to recharge your batteries after a hike or bike ride.
Lake Kraiger was formed in a shallow basin shaped by ice-age glaciers and reaches a maximum depth of ten meters. The shore areas drop off quickly and the water is mainly fed by groundwater, which ensures its clarity.
Its surroundings are characterized by historical sights, including Frauenstein Castle and the impressive Kraig castles. A panoramic circular trail connects these cultural sites and invites you to enjoy a hike with magnificent views of the Carinthian countryside.
Lake Kraiger combines nature, relaxation and culture, making it an ideal retreat for anyone who wants to enjoy the tranquillity of an unspoilt lake while exploring a region steeped in history.
The bathing area at Lake Kraiger is open from 09:00 to 19:00 in good weather from May to September.
