Himalayan feeling in the middle of Carinthia in Hüttenberg
You feel transported to another world when you walk through the stupa, a scaled-down replica of the destroyed west gate of the city of Lhasa. Stone placements with prayer flags and the sacred syllable “OM” carved into the rock or painted on stone set the mood for this unique path. It is an immersion in the Buddhist way of life. For the Tibetans, “OM” is the primal sound of the earth, the opening of every meditation in search of compassion and love for all living beings.
Getting closer to the gods along the way
The spiritual pilgrimage path is lined with outstanding figures from the Buddhist tradition: the Buddha Sakyamuni painted on the rock, the “great wise magician” Padmasambhava as a bronze figure, the Green Tara on the lotus throne. A glorious highlight of the hike is walking through the legendary crystal stupa with crystal from the Hüttenberg mining world. It symbolizes the clear, radiant transition from earthly life up into the endless universe.
Set body and mind in motion
Prayer wheels are waiting to be set in motion with the right hand and in a clockwise direction, as this combines physical activity with mental mindfulness. With each rotation, the printed syllables become effective for the benefit of all sentient beings, so that their suffering is removed and they have a good life. The printed mantra also becomes effective for the person who drives the mill, who built it and who commissioned it. So there are many reasons to become a mover here.
Crossing special bridges
It is thanks to the former master blacksmith Helmut Unterweger from Wieting that you can walk across the iron chain bridge, which is unique in the whole of Europe. It is a replica of the “Leonardo da Vinci of the Himalayas”. This inventor, artist and construction engineer named Thangtong-Gyelpo lived in the 14th century and some of his legendary bridges in Eastern Bhutan are still in use today.
